Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she was the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first female vice president , and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as also the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her first job was with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the 2nd African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants without a legal status as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
